2017 ringing season on Baikal has begun.

On the third of April we started 6-th ringing season on our station. Baikal is in the ice and still many snow around but much less than last year.

5th of April first volunteer Vera arrived. She had been coming here by train from Velikiy Novgorod for 5 days!

Because of snowfall we opened the nets only 5-th of April. For two days we had ringed Coal, Willow and Long-tailed Tits (Parus ater, Parus montanus and Aegithalos caudatus), Red-flanked Bluetail and Reed Bunting (Emberiza schoeniclus).

Very naughty Reed Bunting
